Following an international call for tenders, SYSTRA was appointed, in partnership with its local subsidiary SYSTRACADE, to assist Metro S.A. with the construction, testing, and commissioning of the Line 1 extension to Los Dominicos (approximately four kilometers in length), and the 14 kilometer extension of Line 5 to Maipu.
This challenging, fast-tracked project is scheduled to last only 28 months, all while minimizing disruptions to the Lines’ 1.4 million passengers a day. By the time these new extensions are completed in late 2010, the Metro system will stretch over 104.5 kilometers and include 105 stations, which, as Metro’s Chairman—Clemente Perez says, will place it in the “Premiere League” for metros around the world.
